March Alternative Record of the Month - The Wombats - Beautiful People Will Ruin Your Life

Beautiful People Will Ruin Your Life sees The Wombats continuing to assert themselves as one of the biggest and best guitar pop sensations of our time. Written from three corners of the globe - drummer Dan Haggis in London, bassist Tord Øverland Knudsen nursing his new family in Oslo and frontman Murph in Los Angeles - Beautiful People Will Ruin Your Life was created over long distance writing sessions, supplemented by intense two-week in-person sessions in Oslo. With the addition of producers Mark Crew (Bastille, Rag'n'Bone Man) and Catherine Marks (Wolf Alice), the album finds The Wombats pushing the boundaries of alt-pop innovation with a lush, ultramodern indie soundscape wrapped in Blade Runner synths, future grooves, celestial solos and space age melodies.

March Singer Songwriter Record of the Month - Brandi Carlile - By The Way I Forgive You

By The Way, I Forgive You is not an album about forgiveness in the easy sense-where someone has hurt you and then suddenly there's a great reconciliation and a remorse-filled scene with two people running across the golden wheatfield towards an embrace that somehow undoes a lifetime of pain and damage, as if the past has no meaning. It's about radical acceptance (not to be confused with complacency) and unconditional love. Brandi Carlile is a Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter. Carlile's music through the years has been categorized in several genres, including pop, rock, alternative country, and folk.

The band has done well in Canada.  They have released one EP, Shapeless Art, and a full length, The Union. Those titles produced a big slash on the Canadian Rock / Alternative radio charts. The first single off the album went #1 on the Canadian Rock / Alternative chart and is currently #32 on the US Alternative charts.
