In 1971, Marvin Lee Aday, better known as Meat Loaf, was starring in the Broadway musical "Hair". It was during his time in New York that Meat Loaf met Jim Steinman, who became his principal collaborator on the creation of the album Bat Out Of Hell. Although they started the album in 1972, it was not released until 1977. During this production window, Meat Loaf performed in The Rocky Horror Picture Show (both movie and play) and sang lead vocals on Ted Nugent's Free-for-All album when Derek St. Holmes temporarily quit the band.

Release from the veteran singer/songwriter. When Neil Young entered Shangri La Studio with the band Promise Of The Real a few months ago, there were a lot of images and feelings careening around his soul. The country was heading in a direction Young had never seen, even though up until then he thought he'd seen it all. But something different was happening, and it had gotten inside his music. "I'm a Canadian by the way and I love the USA," he sings on the first song "Already Great." The ethos of The Visitor can be summed up in the refrain of "Already Great" where Young insists, "Already great, you're already great. You're the promise land, the helping hand. No wall. No hate. No fascist USA. Whose Street? Our Street." From those words, Neil Young was ready to take a musical journey on his album The Visitor like he had never taken before. It was one where he'd even surprise himself, always the mark of a creative leap. By the end of the recording sessions, he knew he'd made his most diverse album going all the way back to Harvest in 1972, when America was also in the throes of becoming unhinged. Neil Young didn't blink then, and he is not blinking now.

Music thrives on freedom. Without boundaries or blueprints, songs not only come to life, but last for a very long time to come. Dirty Heads' sixth full-length offering, Swim Team, finds the group at it's most free. The Orange County, CA quintet traffic between alternative, hip-hop, reggae, and rock here with the same spirit and spark that's powered them since the beginning. As a result, the hooks naturally became bigger, the experimentation got bolder, and the smoke blazed brighter. Dirty Heads handpicked a team of collaborators for the album including Jonas Jeberg (Demi Lovato, Juicy J, Jason Derulo), "Lay Me Down" partner-in-crime Rome (Enrique Iglesias) of Sublime with Rome, Blueprint (Jay-Z, Kanye West, Timbaland, Eminem, Nas, Prodigy), Oren Yoel (Miley Cyrus, Kanye West), Heavy (Andrew McMahon), and The Score.

The album tracks "Tryin' to Untangle My Mind", "Hard Livin'" and "Midnight Train to Memphis" have been featured in his All-American Road Show Tour prior to the release. The latter song was also featured in his live sets with his former band The SteelDrivers. The album opens with a cover of Kevin Welch's "Millionaire", and closes with a cover of Homer Banks and Lester Snell's "Friendship," previously recorded by Pops Staples.

November 2017 Choice of the Month Weezer has released 11 studio albums. Their newest LP, Pacific Daydream, recorded with producer Butch Walker (Fall Out Boy, Taylor Swift) is set apart in a whole new league, feeling like the crisply beat-powered spawn of Maroon 5 and Twenty One Pilots.     Pacific Daydream is the eleventh studio album by American rock band Weezer in 25 years. The secret to their longevity isn't that big of a secret, rather a must needed component in today's musical landscape, reinventing themselves to stay relevant.      That’s certainly the case with Pacific Daydream, out Oct. 27 on Atlantic and heralded by “Feels Like Summer” (No. 2 on Billboard’s Alternative Songs chart and No. 4 on Rock Airplay). With a few power chords in the mix, it’s a solid retort to those wondering what “rock” means in 2017. That song predated the Pacific Daydream sessions, but Walker extended the contemporary vibe by recording the songs in modular bits.
