August Singer Songwriter Record of the Month - Dawes - Passwords (Gold Vinyl, 2XLP)

On the group's sixth album, Passwords, inspiration pulls guitarist/ singer Taylor Goldsmith, drummer Griffin Goldsmith, bassist Wylie Gelber, and keyboardist Lee Pardini into their most universal, topical territory to date. This is a record about the modern world: the relationships that fill it, the politics that divide it, the small victories and big losses that give it shape. Taylor's writing is personal at points - the result of his recent engagement, which lends a sense of gravity and self-reflection to album highlights like "Time Flies Either Way" and "I Can't Love" - but it also zooms out, focusing not on the director himself, but on everything within the lens.

July Jazz Soul & Blues Record of the Month - Percy Thrillington (Paul McCartney) - Thrillington (Ltd. Ed. red & black marble-colored vinyl)

Recorded in 1971 but not released until 1977, Thrillington remains one of the most enigmatic entries in the storied McCartney discography. Credited to the pseudonym Percy "Thrills" Thrillington, a fictitious socialite whose activities were chronicled in UK newspaper ads, Thrillington was actually a fully reimagined instrumental lounge/jazz version of Paul and Linda McCartney's Ram. The album was recorded in June 1971 - with McCartney as producer - and with an intended release shortly thereafter. Arranger Richard Anthony Hewson was asked to work on the orchestration before Ram had yet been released. When Paul and Linda decided to form Wings the album was shelved.

Greta Van Fleet are brothers Josh (vocals), Jake (guitar), Sam (bass/keys) Kiszka, & best friend Danny Wagner (drums). With their debut single 'Highway Tune' #1 at Active and Mainstream Rock radio, their first-ever tour of the U.S. completely sold-out, Greta Van Fleet has become - in just a few months - as hot a brand-new band as one can be. Their debut EP, Black Smoke Rising, offers up a tasty slab of rock'n'roll the way it was always meant to be – loaded with bravado, flair, and a righteous attitude of defiance.

July's Rock Record of the Month - Wings - Wings Greatest (Ltd. Ed. blue-colored vinyl)

Wings Greatest is a 1978 compilation album by Wings and their eighth album as well as Paul McCartney's tenth since leaving the Beatles. It is notable as being the first official retrospective release from McCartney's post-Beatles career. The album was compiled after McCartney's decision to leave EMI's American label, Capitol, for a six-year stay with Columbia (United States and Canada only), though he remained with EMI worldwide during his US sabbatical from Capitol. Four of the twelve tracks make their album debut with this compilation: "Another Day", "Junior's Farm", "Hi, Hi, Hi" and "Mull of Kintyre". "Live and Let Die" had previously appeared on the soundtrack album of the same name but did not appear on any previous McCartney albums.

Vinyl LP pressing including digital download. 2018 release, the second studio album by Australian singer/songwriter Vance Joy. Says Vance: "Nation of Two describes a perfectly self-contained couple; their world beginning and ending at the bed they share, the car they ride in, or any other place where they're together... The idea that their love for each other gives them their bearings; a point of reference that makes sense of life." James Keogh, otherwise known as Vance Joy, is a folk/pop artist from Melbourne, Australia. Vance Joy's love of music was inspired by his mother's aptitude at literature and his father's fondness of singing. His parents' vast, eclectic record collection only served to heighten his partiality to it.
