Young The Giant - Victory Garden

Young The Giant - Victory Garden

Young the Giant return with Victory Garden, their sixth studio album and their Fearless Records debut—a concise, cohesive record that finds the Southern California band reconnecting with the chemistry of playing together as a five-piece. The album was largely written during retreats in Idyllwild and Joshua Tree and recorded with producer Brendan O’Brien, known for his work with Bruce Springsteen, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden and other major rock acts.

Thematically, Victory Garden centers on what the band calls “radical empathy,” with frontman Sameer Gadhia drawing inspiration from seeing the world through the eyes of his children. The title also evokes the community gardens cultivated during wartime—a metaphor for creating something hopeful and sustaining during periods of uncertainty.

Musically, it's classic Young the Giant territory: expansive alternative rock, big melodic hooks, atmospheric textures and Gadhia's soaring vocals, but with a particularly organic, band-driven feel. “Evergreen” opens the album with an exuberant rush, while “Bitter Fruit,” “Ships Passing” and “Different Kind of Love” balance arena-sized melodies with more reflective songwriting. The closing “Life Is a Long Goodbye” strips things down into a brief, wistful finale.
