The Linda Lindas – GOTTA GET OUT

The Linda Lindas are growing up, getting louder and expanding their musical horizons on GOTTA GET OUT, the third full-length album from the Los Angeles punk-rock quartet. Featuring Bela Salazar, Eloise Wong, Lucia de la Garza and Mila de la Garza, the record finds the band moving beyond their original DIY punk sound into a much broader mix of post-punk, new wave, hardcore, alternative rock and synth-driven indie pop.
Since their breakout viral performance of “Racist, Sexist Boy” in 2021, The Linda Lindas have become one of the most exciting young bands in alternative music. They've toured alongside major acts like Green Day, built a devoted following and developed a sound that draws from generations of punk and alternative rock.
For GOTTA GET OUT, the band took a different approach to songwriting. The four members gathered for an intensive writing retreat in Palm Springs, working together in the same room rather than bringing individually completed songs to rehearsal. That collaborative process resulted in an album with plenty of stylistic variety, while producer Carlos de la Garza helps give the material a bigger, more adventurous sound.
One of the biggest additions is synthesizers, which appear throughout the record alongside the band's familiar distorted guitars and infectious punk energy. The album also features a notable guest appearance from Hayley Williams of Paramore on “Closer,” making for a particularly fitting collaboration between two generations of female-fronted alternative rock.
