November 2017 Singer/Songwriter ROTM - Robert Plant - Carry Fire
The wealth of music created by this man is staggering. Led Zeppelin recorded nine studio albums, and now 14-time Grammy award-winner Robert Plant has clocked in with his eleventh solo effort Carry Fire. Sonically, Plant’s solo material conjures memories of the lighter side of Led Zep, which is totally cool with us. The gatefold packaging of the record is beautiful and the etching on side D makes this double album a must-have for vinyl collectors and our choice for November’s BTRC Singer/Songwriter Record of the Month.
Carry Fire is Plant's first album in over a decade where he's retained the same players and support crew. Recorded once again with the Sensational Space Shifters, who backed him on 2014’s Lullaby and...The Ceaseless Roar. Some of the guitar tones, mystical components and Robert’s vocals (as well as the open space on the tracks) are definitely reminiscent of Led Zeppelin. Carry Fire is an excellent record and you’ll be glad to hear Plant’s voice sitting on top of such great songs.
