Kneecap - Fenian

Kneecap - Fenian

Kneecap's FENIAN is the Belfast trio's second studio album—and an even bigger, stranger, more ambitious collision of Irish-language hip-hop, punk attitude, rave music, acid house, trip-hop and dubstep. Produced by Dan Carey, whose credits include Fontaines D.C., Wet Leg and Kae Tempest, the album pushes the chaotic energy of 2024's Fine Art into a much broader electronic palette.

Mo Chara, Móglaí Bap and DJ Próvaí recorded the album while dealing with an extraordinary amount of public attention following their film, Kneecap, and the controversies surrounding the group. Rather than retreating from that attention, FENIAN turns it into material—mixing political commentary, Irish identity, humor, confrontation and personal experience into a record that moves at breakneck speed.

The title track is essentially the album's mission statement: a huge, chant-ready rave-rap anthem built around Irish identity and the reclamation of the word "Fenian." Elsewhere, “Big Bad Mo” rides an enormous electronic groove, “Palestine” features Palestinian rapper Fawzi, and “Irish Goodbye” closes the record with a much more reflective appearance from Kae Tempest.
