GA 20 - Blues Now

Blues Now finds Boston-based trio GA-20 continuing their mission of bringing raw, electric blues into the present without sanding off its rough edges. The band—guitarist Pat Faherty, guitarist Matt Stubbs, and drummer Tim Carman—has built its reputation around a stripped-down approach rooted in Chicago blues, boogie, R&B, and vintage rock 'n' roll.

Rather than treating blues as a museum piece, GA-20 approach it as living music. Their sound is deliberately gritty and analog-feeling: distorted guitars, pounding drums, minimal studio polish, and Faherty's rough-edged vocals give the songs the energy of a small club with the amps turned up.

Blues Now continues that tradition while digging into the music's history. The album's title is a fitting statement of purpose: this is blues music made for now, performed with the urgency and swagger of a young rock band rather than the restraint of a traditional blues revival act.
