  • The title Private Music nods to ideas of intimacy, exclusivity, and internal emotional landscapes. According to Moreno, the term struck him as having “all these connotations” — “It feels restricted, maybe naughty.”

  • Sonically, the album continues the Deftones’ signature blend of heavy riffs, textured atmospheres, and emotional vocals—but pushes further into both refined production and ambient/dream-space territory.

  • Lyrically/themes: Reflections on nature, personal and collective transformation, the interplay of heaviness and beauty, presence and transcendence.

  • The band recorded in multiple locations (Malibu, Joshua Tree, Nashville) giving the album some geographical and atmospheric breadth.
