CZARFACE & Frankie Pulitzer – Czarface Meets Frankie Pulitzer

In one of the most unexpected hip-hop collaborations of the year, CZARFACE joins forces with Frankie Pulitzer, the mysterious rap persona of actor Tom Hardy, for a full-length journey into underground hip-hop, comic-book mythology and cinematic storytelling.
CZARFACE—the hip-hop supergroup consisting of Wu-Tang Clan's Inspectah Deck and Boston production and rap duo 7L & Esoteric—has built an entire universe around its blend of dusty boom-bap production, intricate lyricism, superhero imagery and larger-than-life characters. Following collaborations with MF DOOM and Ghostface Killah, the group adds another unlikely partner to its expanding catalog.
Hardy proves to be more than a novelty guest. His delivery brings a distinctly theatrical quality to the project, weaving together literary references, film culture, dark humor and aggressive lyricism. One particularly memorable moment comes on “Grim-Visaged War,” where Hardy performs Shakespeare's Richard III monologue in the unmistakable gravelly voice he used as Bane in The Dark Knight Rises.
The album also features appearances from Busta Rhymes, Method Man and El-P, giving the project some serious underground and mainstream hip-hop pedigree. Production stays firmly within CZARFACE territory: hard-hitting drums, gritty samples, cinematic soundscapes and enough comic-book-inspired imagery to fill an entire graphic novel.
