Beck - Mellow Gold

Beck - Mellow Gold

Beck’s Mellow Gold is his major-label debut album, released on March 1, 1994 via DGC Records. It’s the record that broke him into the mainstream, largely thanks to the slacker anthem “Loser,” which became an alt-rock staple of the ‘90s.

The album is a wild mix of folk, hip-hop beats, lo-fi noise, and surrealist lyrics, showing Beck’s ability to shift between genres while maintaining a distinctive, offbeat style. Critics often describe it as both ironic and sincere, a snapshot of 1990s disillusionment and experimental creativity.
