49 Winchester - Change of Plans
49 Winchester's Change of Plans is a confident evolution for the Virginia-born Appalachian country-rockers. The band's sixth studio album finds them expanding their blend of Southern rock, country soul, blues and Appalachian storytelling, while keeping the rough-edged, road-tested character that has made them such a compelling live act.
Produced by Grammy-winning Dave Cobb and recorded at Thunderbolt Sound in Savannah, Georgia, the album captures the six-piece band with a fuller, more expansive sound without sanding away their roots. Singer and guitarist Isaac Gibson remains at the center, backed by Bus Shelton on guitar, Chase Chafin on bass, Noah Patrick on pedal steel, Tim Hall on keys and Justin Louthian on drums.
The album's title fits its perspective: these are songs about change, growing older, relationships, regret, perseverance and accepting that life rarely follows the plan you started with. “Pardon Me,” released as the album's announcement track, introduces that more reflective side of the band, while songs like “Bringin' Home The Bacon” and “Heavy Chevy” retain the swagger and humor that have always been part of 49 Winchester's identity.
